Q: How much will it cost to hire an attorney?
A: Most attorneys that handle workers' compensation claims work on a contingency fee basis. This means that if they do not recover anything for you, you owe them nothing. The attorney generally receives a percentage of what they recover for you and is dependent on achieving a settlement or judge for you.
Q: What is a statute of limitations?
A: This is the time period that you have to file your claim. The time limit for notifying your employer of your workers' compensation injury claim is seven days. If you feel you have been injured on the job, notify your supervisor immediately and seek legal counsel as soon as possible. A: Any time you seek the help of an attorney, regardless of whether you retain them or not, the information you discuss is confidential.
Q:How much is my case worth?
A: Each case if different. Generally speaking, in the workers' compensation arena, the injured worker may receive a permanent partial disability award. This award is based upon the permanent disability or damage that the injured worker has suffered due to the work injury.
Q: If the injury is partially my fault, do I still have a case?
A: Under Nevada law, workers' compensation is a "no fault" state. That means that if you are hurt while working, you are entitled to coverage regardless of who is at fault, if any one is at fault.
