Kathleen A Sigurdson
Esq

Kathleen received her Bachelor’s Degree in Therapy in 1984 and immediately sought her graduate degree in Rehabilitation Counseling in 1986. After working as a Rehabilitation Counselor in Southern California for a few years, she sought a change of scenery and moved to Reno in 1988. Kathleen worked in the counseling field until she decided to pursue her education in the law.

In 1995, Kathleen began her legal studies. She attended law school in Connecticut with an emphasis in Health law. Following law school, Kathleen accepted a job with an insurance defense firm in Las Vegas, but quickly learned she was not cut out to work for the insurance side. She returned to Reno and began working for those injured in accidents.

Kathleen opened her own practice in 2002 and has enjoyed advocating for the injured party and obtaining what the victim is entitled. Kathleen is an aggressive, dynamic attorney dedicated to representing people with injuries.

Carla Bankhead

Paralegal

Carla has worked in the legal field for over 20 years, most of them concentrating on personal injury claims, insurance defense litigation, and bankruptcy. She has also worked as a free-lance Spanish Interpreter. Carla received her Legal Assistant Associate Degree from Truckee Meadows Community College in 1993 and her Bachelor’s Degree in English from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1999.

Carla came to work for Kathleen Sigurdson in May of 2004 and enjoys the small office, family-like environment.

Marianne Kiley

Legal Assistant

Marianne comes to work with Kathleen with over six years of experience assisting injured persons recover for their injuries and disabilities. She has worked for the insurance companies in claims support for three years and also as an Insurance Customer Service Representative, Insurance Agency Specialist. Marianne’s experience includes personal and commercial insurance as well as property, casualty, life and health.

Marianne began working with Kathleen in 2005. With all these skills and her vast experience, Marianne is a asset assisting Kathleen with the Worker’s Compensation cases.

Michael Decker

Legal Assistant

Michael comes to Kathleen with over 20 years experience in the insurance industry. He has worked for various insurance companies as field claim specialist assessing property damage for car accidents and property damage claims. Michael has experience as an adjuster investigating car accident injuries, property damage, handling medical payment claims, homeowner claims and also negotiated settlement of injury claims.

Michael is a valuable asset to Kathleen’s firm and has brought a depth of knowledge and experience with him to enhance the personal injury cases.

Shantel Schaefer

Legal Assistant

Shantel has joined Kathleen’s practice to assist with the Worker’s Compensation cases. Shantel has also worked with various insurance companies gaining valuable knowledge and experience in understanding how an insurance company views worker’s compensation claims. Shantel has administered/adjusted claims involving medical only claims and also more extensive cases involving lost time claims.

Shantel’s broad background and experience have made her an invaluable benefit to Kathleen and all the clients we serve.
