Kathleen opened her law practice in April 2002 at 1440 Haskell Street in Reno. The offices are located in a charming former home on a tree-lined street just off Mount Rose Street. Clients enjoy the relaxed atmosphere when they come to see attorney Kathleen Sigurdson. Kathleen meets with all the office’s clients personally and you will work directly with Kathleen throughout your case. Her professional and experienced staff is available to assist you as well. In addition, Kathleen has Spanish speaking staff to fully assist our Spanish speaking clients.
Kathleen is an aggressive, dynamic attorney dedicated to representing people with injuries. She will assist you with your wrongful death or personal injury case or your work injury.
Kathleen has a strong background working with people who have injuries or disabilities. Her Bachelor’s degree is in Therapy and her Master’s degree is in Counseling. Her first career was working as a Rehabilitation Counselor before she went to law school to become an advocate for her clients.
After her graduation from law school, she began her legal work with an insurance defense firm. While working for this firm, she learned their methods of doing business. She quickly moved on to working for other law firms and decided she needed to work for herself to offer sincere and trustworthy legal representation to her clients. She formed her own law firm in 2002. Her goal is to offer fair, honest legal to obtain the best possible results for her clients.
Kathleen has staffed her office with only the best assistants whose attitude is fighting for the people of Nevada. Carla has worked in the legal field for over 20 years, most of them concentrating on personal injury claims, insurance defense litigation, and bankruptcy. She has also worked as a free-lance Spanish Interpreter. Carla received her Legal Assistant Associate Degree from Truckee Meadows Community College in 1993 and her Bachelor’s Degree in English from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1999.
Carla came to work for Kathleen Sigurdson in May of 2004 and enjoys the small office, family-like environment.
Michael Decker, Legal Assistant
Michael comes to Kathleen with over 20 years experience in the insurance industry. He has worked for various insurance companies as field claim specialist assessing property damage for car accidents and property damage claims. Michael has experience as an adjuster investigating car accident injuries, property damage, handling medical payment claims, homeowner claims and also negotiated settlement of injury claims.
Michael is a valuable asset to Kathleen’s firm and has brought a depth of knowledge and experience with him to enhance the personal injury cases.
Shantel Schaefer
Shantel has joined Kathleen’s practice to assist with the Worker’s Compensation cases. Shantel has also worked with various insurance companies gaining valuable knowledge and experience in understanding how an insurance company views worker’s compensation claims. Shantel has administered/adjusted claims involving medical only claims and also more extensive cases involving lost time claims.
Shantel’s broad background and experience have made her an invaluable benefit to Kathleen and all the clients we serve.
